The mechanics of MadWay Rally have a sacred task — to transform ordinary cars into monstrous beasts fit for the harshest terrain. It's a job that requires creativity, grit, and a willingness to push the boundaries of automotive engineering to the limit.
Large engines, exposed exhaust pipes, intimidating spikes and armor. Many of the cars are customized with scrap metal parts, giving them a unique, makeshift look.
Mad scientists of Irkutsk
These aren't just any cars — they're created in the remote city of Irkutsk, deep in the heart of Siberia. The mechanics here experiment with pipes, plumbing elements and scrap materials to create vehicles virtually unrecognizable from their original form.
Every car that participates in a rally is made according to an individual project. It carves through rough terrain, navigates treacherous bumps and gracefully avoids obstacles.
Cut a hole. Keep going.
Take the two-story car that ruled the Baikal ice but overheated in the Altai mountains. The mechanics quickly realized the problem and cut a hole in the hood for better engine airflow.
And now the team keeps gearing up with brand-new builds — including one with a body made entirely of fiberglass.
